Identifying clauses

Every time you have a finite verb form, you have a clause! Conjunctions and particles will help you recognize clause boundaries, and understand how they are connected logically.

In the passage below, separate all clauses with a slash / between them, and underline finite verb forms. Circle any connecting words (partciles or conjunctions).

Reading selection based on Lysias 1, sections 6-7

ἔδοξε Εὐφιλήτῳ γῆμαι καὶ γυναῖκα ἠγάγετο εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν. παιδίον δὲ ἐγένετο αὐτῷ, καὶ ἐπίστευε ἤδη καὶ πάντα ἐκείνῃ παρέδωκε. ἐν μὲν οὖν τῷ πρώτῳ χρόνῳ, πασῶν ἦν βελτίστη. ἀλλὰ ἡ Εὐφιλήτου μήτηρ ἐτελεύτησε, καὶ πάντων τῶν κακῶν αἰτία ἐγένετο.
